The Cost of a Screen Repair vs. a New Phone

In most cases, a quality screen repair at a local shop costs a fraction of what a new device costs. For iPhones and Samsung flagships, screen replacements typically run $80–$200 depending on the model — compared to $800–$1,200 for a new phone.

When Repair Makes Sense

• Your phone is less than 3 years old and otherwise works great
• The crack is only on the glass — touch still works normally
• You have data on the device you want to keep
• Your phone is still under warranty or you have device protection

When Replacement Might Be Better

• Your phone is 5+ years old and already slow
• Multiple things are broken (screen, battery, charging port)
• Repair cost exceeds 60–70% of device value

Step 1: Get It Out and Power It Off

Remove the phone from the water immediately. If it's still on, power it off right away. Do not try to charge it or test if it works — electricity + water = more damage.

Step 2: Don't Use Rice (Seriously)

The "put it in rice" trick is a myth. Rice doesn't absorb moisture effectively inside a phone and can leave dust and starch residue that causes additional damage. Skip it.

Step 3: Remove What You Can

Take out the SIM card, SD card, and case. Gently dab (don't rub) the exterior with a dry cloth. Don't use a hair dryer — heat can warp components.

Step 4: Bring It In ASAP

The sooner you get to a repair shop, the better your odds. Corrosion starts within hours. Our technicians will open the device, dry it professionally, and assess the damage.

Warning Signs of a Failing Battery

• Phone dies before hitting 20% or even 40%
• Battery percentage jumps around erratically
• Phone gets unusually hot while charging or in use
• Device randomly shuts off even when battery shows charge
• Phone feels thicker than usual or screen seems lifted (swelling!)

The Danger of a Swollen Battery

A swollen battery is a serious safety issue. Lithium batteries can expand with age and improper charging habits. If your phone feels physically thicker or the screen is separating from the body, stop using it and bring it in immediately.

How to Extend Battery Life

• Avoid charging to 100% and letting it drain to 0% regularly
• Use the original or certified charger — cheap cables degrade batteries faster
• Keep your phone out of extreme heat (car dashboards in summer)
• Enable optimized battery charging if your phone supports it
